Data Loader Recommendations

If you are using the Salesforce Data Loader to load records (NB this is different from Native Data Import Wizard and NPSP Data Importer), we have some recommended settings listed below.

Confirm Data Loader Settings

  1. Insert Null Values = Checked

  2. Use European Date Format = Checked

  3. Time Zone: GMT

 

Using Data Loader

Select your Operation

Insert

Add new records of a certain object type

Update

Edit existing records

Upsert

Update existing records, else add them as new records

Delete

Remove records of a certain object type

Export

Extract all data for a particular object

Export All

Extract All data from a Salesforce Org

Login to your Salesforce Org using the oAuth method

Select your Salesforce Object. If it is a non-standard/custom object, you will need to tick the "Show All Salesforce Objects" checkbox.

Attach your CSV file

Map the fields from your CSV file on the left, with Salesforce fields (click and drag from top window to bottom right list)
